Unimpressed Inu is unimpressed

1. Do not try to knit an octopus.

2. I cannot make a French knot to save my life.

3. I also apparently sometimes pick up stitches from the edge in the wrong direction, no matter how many times I try to pick them up in exactly the same way every time.

4. Knitting tentacles is incredibly boring.

5. The cats will never be impressed by my work.

6. Okay, at least it's kind of cute.

As a matter of purest curiosity, what made you want to knit an octopus in the first place? (Myself, I'd only count on the cats to be unimpressed as long as it takes you to decide that it's safe around them, and then one day you'll come home to a lone button on top of a houseful of unraveling and stuffings.)

Right, but why an octopus? I get the baby gift thing, but surely there are other animal possibilities. ;)

4. Knitting tentacles is incredibly boring.

Yes, but think how many times in your life you'll have the opportunity to type that sentence.

Cute!

And I think the correct question is, "Why NOT knit an octopus?"

Clare says the octopus is great and covets one for Nathan. I've told her you only do an animal once so that it is unique. You're welcome for me getting you off the hook.

So very very cute!

*winces* sweet lord, and me, I will do just about anything not to knit in the round on dpns. If I had a nephew, he would probably go through life thinking they were supposed to have four tentacles or something, and it would be all my fault!

Please don't feel obliged -- Clare and I weren't trying to extract gifts from you (the blanket is more than enough, and Nathan loves it). We both just wanted to tell you how great the octopus looked.

I am just randomly surfing by and feel compelled to stop and say AWESOME. Knitting and octopuses, two things very dear to me. :D If you don't mind me asking, is the body knitted in the round?

Thanks for the link! (I like knitting on dpns so much I do it even when I don't have to. I had a sock phase a few years ago and the habit stuck.)

Of course, after I looked at the pattern again today, I realized I sewed the eyes on too high

But how will that poor kid get on in life when his octopus is ANATOMICALLY INCORRECT?
