monkeys and ponies

It's a gift for my nephew-to-be, who is due in less than a month.

The cats are actually getting too old, lazy, and toothless to do much damage, but I'm still going to put the octopus on a high shelf, just in case.

Probably because it was one of the few stuffed toy patterns I found on the site I was searching, and also because I am dumb and thought "Hey! An octopus! How hard can that be after all those Adipose?"

EXACTLY.

It's more like "You woke me up for this?" :D

You have to knit 13 stitches in the round for 5 rows, then decrease one, then repeat ad nauseam until you're down to 4 stitches. I must have been crazy to take this on.

Not two more of these, but I'm already starting to look at other projects for profrobert's son, and am considering this, this, and this (the latter if I'm feeling ambitious). If you like any of these patterns, let me know.

Thank you! The body is knitted in the round -- as I said upthread to significantowl, you're supposed to use dpns, but I used magic loop instead, because it's much easier on my hands. It's from a free pattern from Lion Brand Yarns, if you want it (you'll have to register on the site).

Of course, after I looked at the pattern again today, I realized I sewed the eyes on too high ... oh well, they look fine where they are.
